We are thrilled to report that the students and staff of The Friary School have produced excellent Sixth Form results this summer with an overall pass rate of 99%.

There were wonderful performances across the board and plenty of exceptional results which were rewarded by places at top-ranked universities:

Alex Gunn (A*, A*, A*)           Oliver Short (A*, A*, A*)        Jenny Deakin (A*, A*, Dist*)
Jack Askew (A, A, A)                Max Venables (A, A, A)           Skylah Eames (A, A, B)
James Gwynne (A, A, B)          Liberty Howells (A, A, B)         Thomas Stanley (A, A, B)

These high grades meant that there were outstanding results in a series of academic subjects with English, Maths, History, Physics, Art, Geography and Sociology standing out. Equally, the vocational courses shone, most notably in the Science, Sport, Performing Arts and ICT.

Additionally, the all-important progress measurement is resoundingly positive, our extra-curricular Extended Project Qualification saw a 100% pass rate and Year 12 results were excellent too.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “The results are a real testimony to our more personalised approach and our careful mentoring, aspirational work, and new facilities. We believe we are a unique local provider and, with the results being the best we have achieved, there is lots to celebrate. We are delighted for the students, staff and families who have put in all the effort that has reaped these rewards.”

Carrie Cain, Assistant Headteacher, said: “Perhaps the biggest thrill is that we have radically altered our provision and it is fantastic to see the changes have brought such success; whether it be the new Oxbridge Scheme getting two confirmed places, the tough new vocational courses scoring well, or the glowing reviews from local employers after summer work placements. The Saturday Schools, university partnership work and community events have all proved so very worthwhile.”
