Year 7 & 8 students were selected to represent the district in the county championship at Tamworth Athletic stadium and on a glorious sunny day our students helped the Cannock district become county champions for the second year running.

The final result was:

Every Friary student performed well and 4 were crowned county champion in their selected events. Year 7 winners were Millie John in the long jump, Abbie Pendlebury om the high  jump and Tom Larkin in the 200m. Elsewhere, Daisy Carter and Hayden Carter performed well in their event. Our Year 8 winner was Morgan Carter in the 100m (in an English Schools Qualifying Time) and both Hope Kendall and Jensen Peake came second in the 1500m races. Others who took part were Taneya Palmer and Mae Bennett.

Andy Millward, team coach, said: “All students were a credit to the school and it is likely up to 6 will represent the county in future championships.”
