Following their success the day before against Lichfield Cathedral School, the Friary team were well informed of what they needed to do in order to go far in the tournament and were also prepared for a rematch after their recent close encounter.
The Y8 team played with a different formation and step-ups from Lily Sperryn and Emily Beddow from Year 7 who made their debuts for the Year 8 team and went on to perform exceptionally well.
The Friary fought off competition from Lichfield Cathedral, EDA, Griffin, Netherstowe and Cannock Chase scoring a total of 31 rounders and secured a place in the semi-finals against Cheslyn Hay.
Unfortunately their winning streak came to an end after the opposition batted first and set the bar too high for the Friary girls to catch on their innings.
Kim Fallows, team coach, said: “The girls finished 3rd overall in what was an intense and high-quality competition. Our Player of the tournament was Emily Turner for an overall outstanding performance, particularly with her fielding dives, throughout the tournament.
