Our special Y11 Leavers’ Assembly was a great chance for staff and students to say goodbye now that the exams have finished and was a welcome contact in the build up to the School Prom.

Students begin to disappear off on family holidays, placements and so on so this often the last chance for the year group to get together and celebrate all they have shared since arriving in Year 7.

The assembly included stories of times gone by, Yearbook awards, old photos and each was accompanied by a mixture of embarrassment, gentle teasing and much laughter. Additionally, Amelia Harrison and Hattie Rumsey entertained the audience with a few songs and gave Mr Cartner’s voice a rest.

Steve Cartner, Head of House, said: “We have worked the students as hard as we can through their GCSEs – and by and large they have responded very well – so this was chance for us all to come together and say our farewells. We are hugely looking forward to so many of our students returning for Sixth Form, but there will be lots of students who move on who we will miss tremendously. It was a lovely event and we are all now looking forward to the Prom.”
