Our Focus Week may well be based on the London Marathon, but it is also Seward House Week where the Seward students get a chance to be the centre of attention and to raise funds for their chosen charity, the Midland Air Ambulance.

This week sees a wide range of activities including a Sunflower Competition entry with the tallest one this summer winning a prize, an ice pop sale at the end of each day, cake sales to Y7 parents (at the Parents Evening) and staff, a special lunch-time talent show, as well as special assemblies, tutor time activities, and House colour streamers around the school site.

Elsewhere, the Head of House, Mr Havill, is asking for sponsorship to run the Lichfield Half-Marathon for the House charity and the more money raised the sillier his outfit – ranging from School PE kit to School Uniform – with the potential piece de resistance being a full Seward the Swan outfit to outstrip Katie Price’s butterfly costume for her failed London Marathon bid.

Mark Drury, Assistant Headteacher, said: “The House Weeks have been a major success this year and have seen £1,000s raised for our local House charities. They have also been a chance for students to take the lead, to come up with creative ideas, and to have a lot of fun.”
