The first House Week broke all records by raising £1,080 for their chosen House charity – with Darwin House now sending a cheque off to Acorns Hospice.
There were a string of events through the week – ranging from the Santa Mile to Name the Tiger and ParentPay donations to winning a Teacher in the Raffle.
The highest sums raised came from Beth Kingston – £92, Aisha Ratnasabapathy – £70 and Hayden Carson – £61 and as they all came from 7D1 they won the House competition with 9D1 taking 2nd place.
The staff raffle proved popular and the following teachers have now been owned to do jobs for the named students:
Mrs Morris – Sophie Turner Mrs Male – Vicky Jarvis Mr Cartner – Amy Greensill
Mrs Hearn – Jack Elson Mr Millward – Dylan Jackson Mr Calder – Isabella Acton
Miss Gray – Emily Turner Mrs Freeman – Maddy Gardner Mr Foster – Becky Oatley
Mrs Barratt – Hollie Clachan Miss Keane – Maizie Danks
Alison Morris, Head of Darwin House, said: “The students and House team have done an amazing job in supporting our House Charity and student leaders will be heading off to Acorns Hospice to present the cheque. We are very proud to have set such a high benchmark for all other Houses to compete with this year.”
Matt Allman, Headteacher, added: “Darwin parents have been incredible at buying into the events and it shows a real partnership between the school and Darwin families. We very much place ourselves at the heart of the Lichfield community so raising funds for such an incredible local organisation is very important for us.”
