Friary Sixth Formers took part in the UK Senior Maths Challenge with Entrust for school across Staffordshire and competed against 17 local schools – including Repton, Adam Grammar, Stafford Grammar and many more.
The Friary team – made up of Skylah Eames, Tatiana Mochi, Oliver Short and Josh Vroom – came a highly creditable sixth and beat many esteemed rivals through their superb Maths knowledge and strong ability to apply their skills to the given challenges.
The Friary offers both A-Level Maths and Further Maths, and students gained several of the tough new ‘9’ grades in the new GCSEs last summer so the expertise in the school staff and amongst the students brought a good level of confidence to the competition.
Alex Britton, Maths teacher, said:” The standard of Maths on display was extremely high and it was fantastic to see our students perform so very, very well. This is only part of the school’s push to help our students compete against the best nationally and only served to prove that Friary students are a on par with any others.”
