Year 13 student, Evie Turner, last week received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
This prestigious award was presented by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire at Lichfield Cathedral as part of the Free Spirit Memorial event.
The award was an acknowledgement of Evie’s nine years of voluntary work – making her the longest serving volunteer – at the Riding for Disabled Association at the Gartmore Riding School.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “It was wonderful to attend the event and to see Evie receive her well-deserved award. I know she is planning her university applications but is still seeking to maintain her exceptional voluntary work at the stables. The award is special praise for a special young person.”
