Friary students supported the Free Spirit Memorial Concert at Lichfield Cathedral by lending their voices to the choir and playing an important role in backing the event to be a huge success.
A packed Cathedral saw performances, songs, presentations, and speeches supporting the Free Spirit project which seeks to celebrate the close partnerships between horses and humans that exists through history, work, rehabilitation, education, sport and leisure.
The Free Spirit project is raising funds to create a life-sized bronze statue acknowledging the horse’s unfaltering service to mankind. A site has been chosen at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “The event was a wonderful celebration of an important project and the high attendance reflects the connection it makes within our local community. We were proud that our students played their part in supporting the project and helping the evening to shine.”
