Our school’s annual ‘Summer Sizzler’ went off with a bang last night as a packed field was entertained for over 3½ hrs by student bands and staff in our own Glastonbury-style event.
There were two stages which allowed a wide range of students to perform a wide mix of music and it was evident form the enthusiasm and passion of the students that if they could have sung all night long then they would have.
This year’s event was even bigger than ever with the PTA, alongside students and staff taking a lead in providing a wide range of stalls and entertainments to support the event and raise further vital funds. Additionally the PTA put on excellent food outlets and a bar – with the viral Curry Crew and Burger Boys battle seeing a dead heat. Likewise, the bar pretty much sold-out as the sun baked down and the threatening storms thankfully kept away.
All in all, the attendance was pushing 4-figures and the level of staff and community support was stronger than ever. Likewise, the new Year 7 parents turned out in force and it as clear that we have some wonderful families joining the school next year.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “This was my first Summer Sizzler and, though I had heard great things, the event passed even my wildest expectations. The acts were of a great quality and there was a genuine buzz throughout the whole evening. He thanks to everyone who helped out, to those who simply attended and made it such a great event, and we look now to next term’s events which will catch the imagination as much as last night did.”
