Our Year 9 cricket team won their first match in the Cannock & District League with a 40 run victory over Erasmus Darwin Academy (EDA).
The Friary opened the batting with Josh Bramall’s 52 resulting in a competitive target of 121 from 16 overs.
In reply, EDA reached 81-4 in their 16 overs with Jack Oates taking two superb catches and Josh Worrall coming out as pick of the bowlers with fine figures of 4 overs / 1 maiden / 1 wicket for 13 runs.
Oli Forster, Assistant Headteacher, said: “It is great to see the cricket whites coming out in the sunshine and it is wonderful for the first sound of ball hitting willow to culminate in a victory for the school.”
