The Student Council and PTA sat down earlier in the year as part of their joint campaign to improve the school environment.
These discussions included the need for extra outdoor seating so having secured fantastic support from Cain Brothers Timber Merchants in Swadlincote we managed to purchase two superb picnic tables.
Student leaders, Nina Worrall (school governor) and Sonia Short (Chair of the PTA) all attended to ‘cut the ribbon’ on the new tables and they have been very well-received by students through the week.
Ian Rose, Deputy Headteacher, said: “The PTA have been a massive support to improving our school facilities and their direct ties with the students have reaped rewards here. I know students and parents have been impressed by the new Sixth Form Centre, the extended library, and so on, and the PTA have a hand in all of these projects.”
The Summer Term sees a string of further PTA events including the Summer Sizzler, the Lower School Production Bars, the Worth Brothers Wine Tasting Evening and the Bag2School scheme.
