Year 11 RE Trip
Year 11 Religious Education students had a fantastic opportunity to engage with the lived reality of religion in Britain on their educational visit today.
Students began by visiting a mosque, where they were given a tour (including the Wudu room) before taking part in an insightful Q&A session with members of the Islamic community.
The students then visited a Sikh Gurdwara, where they explored the prayer hall and had another valuable Q&A session with members of the Sikh community. The visit concluded in the Langar, where the Sikh community kindly treated the students to a delicious curry and dessert.
GCSE RE has a significant focus on Ethics & Philosophy, but students are also expected to have a firm understanding of the main world religions, which is where educational visits can help make classroom teaching come to life.
Miss Boulton, Head of RE, said: "The students were full of excitement throughout the day and asked lots of thoughtful and insightful questions. It was wonderful to see them engaging so positively with both communities and developing their understanding beyond the classroom."
Miss Boulton added: "Many thanks to everyone who helped make the trip such a valuable and memorable experience for the students."
