Guest speaker wows students with global challenge

Johnson House had a surprise guest speaker in assembly this morning in the form of local charity fundraising hero James Lewis.

James hit the headlines recently as a result of a fundraising challenge which saw him dribble a football 2000 miles from Africa to Rugeley. This incredible effort saw him raise £74,000 for St Giles Hospice, who cared for Jamie's father, David, when Jamie was a child.

Indeed, with his other fundraising efforts taken into account, James has raised over £129,000 for the charity, which is close to his heart.

St Giles Hospice are, of course, the charity chosen by Johnson House for their own fundraising efforts. It is little wonder why Miss Wright, as Head of Johnson House, organised Jamie's visit to school this morning to speak with students from her House.

James' talk will serve as an inspiration to students not only for what a determined individual is able to accomplish, but also act as a timely reminder of why St Giles Hospice is such a well-deserving local cause.

Mr Drury, Headteacher, said: "A massive thank you to James for giving up his time to speak in school this morning. He is a reminder that it is possible for anyone who has determination, organisation and is motivated by a great cause to accomplish incredible things."
