Friary welcomes Thrive Ambassadors
This year we have launched a new leadership opportunity for Key Stage 3 students who are interested in promoting wellbeing at The Friary School.
Friary Thrive Ambassadors will be working throughout the year to support focus weeks and initiatives that raise awareness around how to stay happy and safe, so that students are able to thrive at school and in later life.
Each student completed an application to be considered for the role and, as part of that process, suggested their own ideas for how they could make an impact.
During the second half of the Autumn term, the Thrive Ambassadors will be completing a five-week training course that will be delivered by the NHS Mental Health Support Team. During their training they will learn about how to look after your mental health as well as notice the signs when others seem to be suffering. Although students will not be delivering any sort of counselling themselves, it will be their job to educate others on how to stay well, and the things we can all do to look after our mental health.
Mrs Hearn, Deputy Headteacher, said: "We are really looking forward to sharing the work they do over the coming year and hope that it will provide opportunities for students to thrive."
