Friary pay respect at British Legion Garden of Remembrance
This week, a group of students represented the school at the Royal British Legion Garden of Remembrance, accompanied by Miss Simpson and Miss Wright. The visit, which took place on Wednesday 4th November, was arranged to mark Remembrance Day and complemented the school’s Remembrance focus week.
The Royal British Legion Garden of Remembrance was, until recently, known as the National Memorial Arboretum.
Many of the students involved are also delivering remembrance assemblies to their houses this week, making the experience especially meaningful. During the visit, students explored a range of memorials and learned about the lives and sacrifices of those commemorated and were able to lay a wreath on behalf of The Friary School. Staff at the Garden of Remembrance shared powerful and moving stories that left a lasting impression on the group. Although poignant at times, the afternoon was both educational and memorable, with students returning eager to share what they had learned.

Miss Simpson, Assistant Headteacher said: "Our visit to the Garden of Remembrance was a poignant and meaningful experience. It was a fantastic opportunity to lay a wreath on behalf of The Friary School. The students were a credit to the school."
