Twenty Year 12 and 13 Maths students have recently took part in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge – a national competition designed to stretch the mathematical thinking of sixth form students across the UK.

They focus on complex problems involving logic, creativity and deep mathematical understanding. Their results were nothing short of inspiring: 3 students earned Bronze Awards, 6 students achieved Silver Awards, and 6 students secured Gold Awards – including one exceptional Year 12 student.

The six Gold Award winners have now qualified for the Senior Kangaroo, the next stage of the competition that invites students with high scores to take their problem-solving skills even further.

A special congratulations goes to Kimi Leigh in Year 13, who has been invited to compete in the British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1 – an elite opportunity extended to approximately the top 1,000 students nationwide. This round is known for its depth and difficulty, and Kimi’s selection is a testament to her outstanding mathematical ability and dedication.

Daniel Buxton, Maths Leader, said: “We are incredibly proud of all our participants for their hard work and enthusiasm. Well done to everyone involved – we look forward to seeing how our students continue to shine in the next stages.”
