The new GCSE grades have been a subject we have covered before on our website but we are keen that every student and every parent is crystal clear what they mean.

The target in GCSE English and Maths this summer – and in most subjects in Summer 2018 – is a Grade 5 which is the new ‘Good Pass’.

This is tougher to achieve as a 5 measures roughly against a top C-grade. This means scraping an old C no longer exists – if you get that mark from now on you will fall short with a 4.

Parents will spot it is even more important for their child to give 100% in every lesson as not getting the 5 will work against their child as they try to get into colleges, apprenticeships, Sixth Form and universities.
