The Y7 Boys Football Team ran out 3-1 winners against local rivals Nether Stowe and move forward in the Cannock & District Cup.

The Friary team set the pace from the outset, passing the ball around well, and creating plenty of chances but were repeatedly denied by an inspired performance by the opposition goalkeeper.

Even so, after 15 minutes of intense pressure the Friary team made the breakthrough when Dom Herbert (captain) turned in a loose ball from a corner.

Just before the half-time break, the Nether Stowe keeper undid some of his earlier excellent work by turning a cross not his own net after pressure from Jenson Peake.

The second half saw the Friary team sit back a little too much and Nether Stowe pulled a goal back but this jolted the Friary back into rhythm and added a third with 10 minutes to go.

The victory was made a little tougher than it could have been, but it was still a great result and Dom Herbert took the Player of the Match Award.
