The Friary School opened its doors for Saturday School for the first time on Saturday 11th March as part of our support for GCSE students facing exams.

The first session saw 20 students come in for the full 9.30-11.30am slot – wearing non-uniform and having free access to hot drinks and biscuits – in order to spend time working through the new online Educake Science revision package which all Year 10 and Year 11 students have received passwords for.

The Saturday School runs through to the Summer exams and future sessions cover all subject areas – the second Saturday School will focus on GCSE Maths.

Matt Allman, Headtacher, said: “Our Saturday School is part of our drive to push our exam results up towards ‘outstanding’ and the first 20 students set a great example for others to follow. Having set the scheme up in my former school, the sessions develop momentum and will be hectic in the final push. We would encourage all students to attend and the long-term aim is to make the sessions open to all year groups.”
