The Staffordshire SNAP Competition is a well-respected county event which sees 13-18 year olds face the challenge of taking a high quality photograph and writing a poem to match the image.
The competition draws entrants from across Staffordshire and requires skills in creative writing, imagination and the confidence to put your head above the parapet.
The Friary student did superbly well to have three students – Elizabeth Short (Y9), Amy Cundill (Y10) and Aimee Hanson (Y10) – make the Grand Final.
The judging panel made their deliberations before deciding that students from The Friary should take 2 of the 3 podium places. Elizabeth Short, the youngest competitor, took first prize and Amy Cundill snatched a fantastic third.
Ian Rose, Deputy Headteacher, said: “We are thrilled that all three girls performed so well in such a vast field – and then to see Elizabeth and Amy in the top three is wonderful. The English Department and wider staff are delighted, I know the parents will be celebrating, and all three girls deserve all the accolades.”
