The Sixth Form is a tough time in terms of the rigours and challenges of A-Levels, UCAS applications, apprenticeship links, etc, but despite this two Friary students still managed to fit in the time to achieve their ‘Gold’ Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

James Burns and Harry O’Connor are due to receive their Awards at St James’ Palace in around 9-12 months time and all the work that went into the planning and actioning of their tasks now seems very, very worthwhile.

Carrie Cain, Assistant Headteacher, said: “The Duke of Edinburgh is a world-renowned scheme and is highly respected by universities and employers. The Gold Award is the ultimate level of the scheme and we are very proud that our school has representation with the royals later in the year. A big achievement like this only deserves the very highest praise.”
