A group of A-Level Science students had the opportunity to visit the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxford.
During the visit pupils got to meet and talk to CERN particle physicist Kristian Harder.
At the Particle Physics Masterclass pupils got the chance to find the Higgs Boson using data collected in the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland.
Students also got the chance to walk around the synchrotron in the Diamond Light Source and find out how the high energy particles are used in industry and medicine.
Dave Brown, Head of Science, said: “This was too good an opportunity to miss out on – a visit to a lab, CERN connections, and high-end particle physics work. The students found it an amazing experience and it opend their eyes up to the big wide world of Physics.”
