We would encourage all parents to take the time to fill out the fairer funding consultation by the government and argue that The Friary School – and all schools in Staffordshire – should get fairer funding.
Local students have consistently been funded less for their education than across the country – this means our children have been losing out for decades.
Local schools are judged in the same way as better funded schools by OFSTED, recruit in the same job market of huge teacher shortages as better funded schools, and students have to face the same exam criteria as better funded schools.
It is difficult to see how this is fair and it shows that local students, families and schools have been doing an amazing job in a very unfair system.
The consultation takes about 15mins to complete and can be found at: https://consult.education.gov.uk/funding-policy-unit/schools-national-funding-formula2/
Our local MP, Michael Fabricant, has recently voiced his support for fairer funding and his arguments can be seen at: http://www.lichfieldmercury.co.uk/education-news-lichfield-mp-on-staffordshire-s-raw-deal-over-school-funding/story-30132119-detail/story.html
