Year 9 County Cup – Match report

The year 9 boys played in the 3rd round of the county cup last night away against Repton school. The boys started the game like men possessed causing panic throughout the Repton team with the Friary’s brand of energetic closing down and physical pressure. This allowed them to turnover possession high up the pitch which allowed us to test their keeper early. Our finishing proved superior and resulted in the first half finishing 2-0 with goals from Josh Bramall.

As the 2nd half began, the Friary’s closing down began to subside we remained disciplined throughout. Repton scored to make it 2-1 which could’ve been the turning point of the game however, like a true team, the boys rallied round each other and dominated the game again ultimately finishing 5-2 with goals coming from Josh Clamp who led the line fantastically to relieve pressure on our back four. This is a truly special win and it was a pleasure to see the boys come together and do so well. Well done from everyone in PE.
