On Wednesday 2nd November Year 8 girls participated in a hockey tournament hosted by Denstone College.
Teams entered into the competition included were Friary, Packwood, Abbotsholme, Foremarke, St. Anselms, St.Edwards, Stafford Grammar and Denstone.
From the start the girls fought hard, making some lovely runs into the D but unfortunately were unable to find the back of the net in the first two games. Scarlett Roche-Allen and Connie Wadlow were denied on many occasions from scoring to put the Friary team ahead.
Mid-way through the competition the girls were positioned in the runners up spot which meant in the final games they needed to win. Despite their efforts and tactical play the girls found themselves against Denstone in their final match which ended with a late goal from the opposition to put them 1-0 up.
Due to how the other match finished the girls were ranked as 3rd place overall out of ten teams that entered the Tournament.
Amidst a high-quality field, The Friary more than held its own and the PE staff and previous support form Lichfield Hockey Club has certainly blessed the girls with real talent.
