Our ‘Raising Aspirations’ Programme kicked off the wide range of events planned throughout the school year to ensure that every student has their eyes opened to their dream jobs and horizons – but are also crystal clear on what they have to do to get there.
This event covered a target group of Year 9 students to make them aware of the new GCSE Grades 7-9 and gave them the opportunity to visit the UCAS and National Careers website to review university courses and careers routes open to them. It involved families camped together around computers sharing the journey to university and beyond together.
Carrie Cain, Assistant Headteacher, said: “This is only the first event of many and was an early opportunity to kick the ball off for a year group that need to be fully aware of the new grade boundaries as they move towards their options evening later in the year.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, added: “All Year 9 students will get full guidance on their pathways and as the programme grows we will see these special evening supplemented with assemblies, mock interviews, targeted careers talks, work experience, university visits, apprenticeship talks, and so on. Every student deserves to have the finest careers and aspiration guidance available and, having previously been involved in wining national accreditation for this provision, I am intent on seeing Friary students get only the very best.”
